Thurlaston Parish Council Planning Application Comments

Planning Applications

Disclaimer: This page should list all undecided planning applications, but to be sure contact Blaby District Council directly. The Parish Council receives details of planning applications and are consulted on them. They can submit their views (taking account of/ representing any parishioners’ views) but the District Council primarily look to the Parish Council for local insight and may not follow the Parish Council’s views. Any submissions should be made to both the Parish and District Council within any deadline period.

This page also contains the submissions made by Thurlaston Parish Council on planning applications within the parish and some, relating to land that either borders the parish or on which development would have a significant impact upon the parish. As the Council only meets every six weeks, it is not possible to discuss the applications at the public meetings. Often the deadlines are very short; sometimes as few as seven days are available to the Parish Council, in which to make submissions. The applications are frequently sent to the Council weeks after they were submitted. Ordinarily, the application is passed between the Councillors, who record any comments or concerns. This then forms the basis of the Parish Council’s submissions. On occasion, Councillors are willing to undertake site visits for significant developments.

If interested parties or parishioners wish to express their views to the Parish Council it is suggested that they attend the next meeting after the application has been filed and bring relevant documents. The Council may not be in a position to and will rarely debate applications at a meeting without having received the application, but Councillors will be able to take account of the views expressed. Alternatively, interested parties or parishioners should write to or email the Clerk to the Parish Council with their views. This enables the information to be noted and disseminated to all the Councillors once the deadline has passed.
