2011 Parish Council Awards

It is that time of year again when the Parish Council are seeking nominations for the following awards:-

The Environmental Award is presented to the person/organisation who has done most to improve the appearance or understanding of the local environment.

The Silver Jubilee Award is presented to the person/organisation judged to have made the most noteworthy contribution to life in our parish.

The Young Achievers Award is presented to a young person/persons, under the age of 25, in recognition of achieving something exceptional or bringing credit to the community.

All Local Community Groups will be contacted with a request for nominations. A ballot box and nomination forms will shortly be made available at Hill View Nursery. There will also be an opportunity for Parishioners to make nominations directly to the Clerk at the details shown above. Further nomination forms and a ballot box will be available in the Village Hall at the Open Harvest Event on Saturday 8th October 2011.

The recipients of last years awards were, the Environmental Award to Dave Tibbles for all his hard work within the village and in particular in recognition of his assistance with the planting of daffodil bulbs along the grass verges and the Silver Jubilee Award to Cynthia Webb in recognition of all her work with regard to Thurlaston Coffee Club and the raising of funds for MacMillan Nurses and in respect of her assistance with the Church through times of change. Unfortunately last year there were no suitable nominees for the Young Achievers Award. The Parish Councillors very much hope that there will be suitable nominees for the award this year.

We do hope there will be lots of nominations for this years awards. The closing date for nominations is Friday 14th October 2011.
